Running Buddy / Driving lesson suggestions

Post by Seifer »

Morning all,

I'm not a known name on the forums but I'm a Sydenham Local of many a year. I'm hoping that some of you will be able to give me a hand with a few things: -

1 - Do we have anyone here that goes running on a regular basis? If so, would you object to a running buddy? I'm not the worlds fastest or fittest but would like to get back into the habit. I've got no problem joining for a run once, learning the route and getting my level of fitness up if a companion with a slower pace is off putting. I'm based at Cobb's corner.

2 - Having reached the grand old age of 28 and having coped without a driving license, I think its time I rejoined the real world. Can anyone share any suggestions for a decent instructor that may not be too heavy on the wallet.

Am happy to take any questions too.

Cheers,
Steve

Time to give my regular plug for: http://www.crystalpalacefunrunners.co.uk

Starts at the Paxton Statue in the middle of the park 7.30pm Mondays & Wednesdays (anyone is welcome to join me at 7.20pm to run from LPG). Caters for ALL abilities - well from trotters to 7 minute milers as we group by (dis)ability. Emphasis is on fun - chatting to make the 6 to 10k runs pass pleasantly away. Nobody gets left behind and you can try us out for FREE.

Members do organise informal extra runs so it is also a good place to find buddies of a similar standard.

If you are into timed runs I should mention the recently organised and completely FREE Bromley ParkRun: http://www.parkrun.org.uk/bromley/

This is a 5k every Saturday at 9am. Times range from 17 mins (phew!) to a more sedentry 40. It is held in Norman Park - a pleasant 5 mile cycle ride from Sydenham which makes a nice warm-up. Again anybody is welcome to join me (though the weather tomorrow does look very dodgy).

Nicely answered Stuart, thanks for the information. I'm not on my bike yet, but I'd like to come on Monday.
