Have you contacted Property World with your ideas on the other thread Lee?

They support the Sydenham International Music Fest and are family run. They might be more helpful than some of the chains.

They are opposite the station.

If the boards are in breach of the T&CP Act (and some have been up for years), they're breaking planning law and should be dealt with by the Lewisham planning office. When I get time, I'll give the council a ring to see what they can do. It's just a pity that local businesses, such as these and others, care so little about the community in which they opperate.

The Sydenham Town Centre Steering Group have been discussing this for some time and both Julie Sutch, the Town Centre Manager and myself as the Chair and local councillor, have visited the estate agents in the high street (particularly Property World) to ask them to remove their advertising boards.

From my last visits on Saturday 10 October there were only two flats to let at Property World, one at UniPlan and none in Manns and Acorn - Your Move were closed. I again made a polite request to remove the old boards and I see, after 14 days, to no avail. I will make sure that the enforcement letters are sent out next week.

I am sure we all support having a vibrant high street - not the short term interests of competing estate agents having sign wars!

Chris

It's good to hear you're on the case. Fingers crossed they start disappearing. Just out of interest, how long does the enforcement notice give them to act? Also, will it prevent them putting them straight back up?

Thanks
