Have just moved to the area and stupidly purchased a new Gas Cooker from Argos but totally forgot about installation, so I have nice cooker but no idea of how to install it ! Not wanting to D.I.Y, can anyone reccomend a qualified Corgi / Gas Safety installer ? they would need to provide a gas safety certificate afterwards for insurance purposes !!
I feel such a numpty but have phoned around a few local companies and they only seem to do non-domestic work ........

Have you tried Progas? I don't know if they do installing cookers, mainly heating I think, but you could ask them.
I got them from some recommendations on here to fix a problem with my boiler. They were really excellent.

I wouldn't recommend Progas. Called them out once and they basically replaced a part that didn't need to be replaced and charged way over the odds.
Also, they pushed way too heavily for me to go for a replacement boiler instead of the simple fix that was needed.
People have to earn a living but it really annoys me when they try to take advantage.

Oh – I'm surprised. It was the opposite for us. They only charged £65 and they came out twice for that. They found the problem and managed a temporary fix and fully explained what was causing the problem.digime2007 wrote:I wouldn't recommend Progas. They then quoted us separately to fix the problem permanently, and without going into the details we actually just decided to leave it as is. They could have easily got away with telling us we needed the full job doing and charged a lot more money, but they didn't.
Maybe you really do need a new boiler! Until you have one you don't realise how much more efficient they are.

You're right I do want a new boiler - I just don't want to be told I need a new one when a £5 part needs replacing.
My experiance was actually a few years a go so maybe they have improved since then. (Incidentally, that's a few years of a perfectly working boiler they said was on it's last legs).
I also remember they advertised "free quotes" and "no callout charges" but then, after they had taken a look, told me I had to pay a consulation fee.
