Hi just wanted to check we are having incredible difficulties with BT broadband in the sydenham area. Our broad band has been off for approximately four weeks. BT seem unable to fix it. Is anyone else experiencing difficulties?
BT Broadband is a poor provider with a CS function that makes it worse.
Ironically this means when the problem is at your end they are not the best people to discover that. 4 days downtime is unacceptable. 4 weeks is just crazy. What is their explanation?
They should be able to confirm they can see your router. If they can't and it is switched on then the problem is definetly BT. If they can see your router, can you? They should have helped you test that. Instructions are hardware specific but go along the lines of "point your internet browser to 192.168.1.1" (where the number may be different).
If both these are acheived then there is a connection. They should then talk you thru connecting to something on their network (before it goes onto the open net).
Does any of the above ring any bells. What hold music are they playing these days?

Are you certain it is the BT Broadband line and not your PC ??
I am certain if the problem is on the BT side they will fix it; however I am afraid that sometimes you have to keep ringing them on the 0800 number. Do NOT be put off that someone will ring you back tomorrow. If you get no joy demand to speak to a supervisor.
Cath900 maybe you could give some more details. e.g. which modem/router you are using, do you have any lights on it? Do you know whether you are connecting to the PC using USB or Ethernet?
Whereabouts in Sydenham do you live, if it is local I 'might' be able to pop round and determine 'where' the problem lies.
