Colourful characters of south London

Post by paultreacy »

In September I will be launching a new blog that will feature short form documentary multimedia pieces / characters studies of ordinary Londoners doing extraordinary things.

If you know of anyone that might make for an interesting feature, please let me know.

Youngsters with serious green credentials. A home owner with a completely energy independent home. Perhaps someone who has worked an allotment for several decades. An innovative graffiti artist. A particularly talented stunt bike rider. Someone with a substantial collection of something unusual. You get the idea.

I expect each finished piece to be between 3 and 5 minutes of video, stills photography and audio.

I will finance it through a combination of ads, grants and other forms of sponsorship but initially from my own pocket.

My plan is to completely embed myself in south London life as a photographer and filmmaker with our area of London as my speciality.

I no longer wish to travel for my work but would rather stay here in our amazing city. There are so, so many stories to tell. Please help me tell them.

Many thanks.

AliB keeping yourself warm in bed at night with your kebab and lager farts does not constitute a completely energy independant home.

Paul, there was a very good saxophonist with a singing dog at forest hill train station this evening.

Promoting a criminal? Now, that's not very responsible is it?

What I just said was stupid. What I meant was I've met some who became sought after as muralists and commercial artists.

I know there is at least one guy who sleeps in Sydenham Hill Woods. I imagine he may have some stories to tell in exchange for a few cans of White Lightning. (and before anyone asks, I don't think it is Lambchops)

Sleeping in the woods. Now that's spooky.

Already some great stories to tell. Bring on September.

Just a few little bits and pieces of gear to put in place before launching.

It always amazes me how different peoples lives are.

That's hardly novel; Matthews the Hermit was doing it two centuries ago.
