Rubbish in the triangle

Post by davegr »

I'm appalled at the state of the pavement around St. Germains. I feel sorry for them and the other cafe there. It could look so much better.

They have to put up with the abandoned toilets eyesore. There is that appalling oval shaped advert display. The council seems to have left some barriers there that are usually in a heap over some yellow metal plates....and to top it all there are loads of enormous bins that are constantly left there too. It makes the whole area look like a rubbish tip.

I'm not sure which council is responsible for that area but they should be ashamed.

Are you talking about The Crystal Palace Parade.
If so 4 boroughs share the triangle Croydon , Southwark , Lambeth and Croydon.
Lewisham stops before the parade so is innocent.

Actually Barty I must stand up for Lewisham Council for once,I had a street light outside my house that kept coming on and going off when it felt like it,i put up with this for months because i thought its not worth telling L.Council they wont do anything, WRONG! I sent them an E.Mail and two days later it was fixed, so i sent them a message saying thank you just to show we do appreciate their efforts sometimes.

I'm afraid my opinion of Lewisham council fell through the floor during the extreme snow. There are plenty of threads on this forum from the beginning of Feb when people were slagging off the company I work for because they could not provide a service, and I countered by slagging off Lewisham council for not gritting roads so that staff from the company I work for could get about and provide that service.

:) Fair enough!

But where i am usually of the opinion that L.Council is rubbish, I was surprised on this occaision that they responded so quickly.

There are 1000km of roads in Lewisham. It is up to local residents to report environmental crime - fly-tipping, graffiti and the like, as well as mal-functioning street lights.

These can all be reported directly to Lewisham Council by way of its www.LoveLewisham.org website (with photos), or you can text or email using lovelewisham@mediaklik.co.uk or phone 8314 7171. Photos particularly enable the council to see in advance the extent of problems like fly-tipping.

The website allows residents to view the progress of reported environmental crime which the council aims to clear up within 48 hours.

Street light repairs are also dealt with promptly providing they have been reported to the council, as Annie testifies.

We residents are the eyes of the Council and we can make the difference to our environment.
