Myself and the lady went down to the Golden Lion and caught some great blues last Friday, really good night and great atmosphere.
One thing that struck us though was that the banner behind the band proclaimed the night as 'Sydenham Blues Club' where as outside it simply says 'Live Music Every Friday' or some such. I think it would be a great idea if the Golden Lion promoted the night as 'Sydenham Blues Club.'
I just think a 'Blues Club' sounds alot more interesting than just live music, it has a good sense of cummunity and lets you know what your getting as far as the music policy is concerned. You'd be able to get some great write ups in local press, I'm also sure there are few designers on this forum who'd happily pull together a snazzy flier or poster, I'll happily help distribute.
Any thoughts - or can anyone pass these ideas onto the organiser? Happy to help promote where I can.

Sydenham Blues Club...
Hi G-man,
Glad you enjoyed the music and atmosphere on your visit to the Golden Lion. Although I am not the organiser of the Blues Club evenings, I do try and pass on any information that I glean on my odd evening at the bar.
I can tell you that a new banner for the front of the pub is on its way.
There is live blues every friday and this Friday 6th March will feature the
Diz Watson Blues Band. I havent seen the new list yet but I will post it as soon as I do.
The Blues evenings are usually listed in Time out magazine and online.
You can also access sydenhambuesclub on Myspace.
I hope this helps.
