Guess most of you here have done the usual and got 75mm hot water tank jackets and 8" of ceiling insulation. But my biggest saving last year was made by checking the actual (rather than the quoted) consumption of electric devices. Some consume much more when 'off' than others on standby.
An energy meter costs £14 from Maplins or can be borrowed FREE to library users, from all Lewisham libraries. The meters can be loaned for three weeks, just like taking out a book. Try one. You may be surprised, you can't lose!
Another Lewisham freebie (well rebate on our council tax) includes free energy audits (worth £199) and free hot water cylinder jackets. These are on a limited first come first served basis.
Contact Lewisham’s Sustainable Resource team on 020 8314 8392 or email energy (at) lewisham.gov.uk for details. Tell them you read it here first.
