Yes, Mary, I did win it (had to pay a little more than I normally do for such things).
The Edney family were the village blacksmiths, their forge at what would now be 153 Sydenham Road, near Berrymans Lane. The business was started by Thomas Edney in 1790. On his death in 1849 it was taken over by his wife, Rosamond, who was described as "blacksmith and farrier" for the next 15 years.
When Rosamond died in 1869 her sons continued the business until the 1890s.
The lease appears to refer to a plot of land off Wells Park Road, between Springfield Rise and Dallas Road. It seems as though Rosamond owned the land and perhaps developed it. By the 1860s Edney Street and Rosamond Street had been named. Nothing now remains apart from the name of Rosamond Street.
