Vote for our local parks - Mayor of London funding available

Post by charlieandpip »

Boris has just announced a competition for major funding for 10 London parks.... there are two in our local area shortlisted for votes - Mayow Park and Penge Parks.

Time to get voting :D

http://www.london.gov.uk/parksvote/region/southeast/

There are three ways in which votes can be registered:

- via the website - by using the online form

- by post – persons unable to access the internet can request a postal vote form by calling the Public Liaison Unit on 020 7983 4100

- by mobile phone – text 'parks' and your full London post code to 62967. This will automatically vote for the nearest park on our shortlist to that post code in the same borough. :D

Shame Home Park isn't on the list, it DISPARATELY needs funding for improvement.

I agree Lee. Perhaps you could attend next Thursday's localities fund meeting and lobby for some funding for improvements.

I think Simon is referring to next week's Assembly at 7pm at the Grove Centre. (Thursday 4th Dec)

A picture of Mayow Park, (including FOMP members) is on the front page of South London Press today, including a huge double page spread on local parks in the centre.

Get voting!

Is the blonde buffoon now embracing the 'X Factor' culture?

So the park with the most votes wins does it? Will Simon Cowell announce the outcome?

What a weird basis for making a decision on improving a park.

You may think the weird, but it is real. It is absolutely publicity, public pressure and local support we need to get the investment - not just now but in the future, and not just for Mayow Park, but for other local parks too. But for now, let's all get behind Mayow Park. Would you prefer decisions to be taken ignoring what the community says?

If you are on Facebook you can show your support for Mayow Park at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=48642284391

Steve Grindlay has provided some excellent resources:
