I would suspect that because it's a private plate it won't have a year prefix and they could put the plates on a car of any age without raising a visual suspicion. If you put new '58' prefix plates on a 15 year old Escort I'm sure they'd get pulled over in no time.

I'd personally think that any personal plates on a 15 year old escort would raise an eyebrow...

Well I simply couldn't afford personal plates so I changed my name to LX 53 ZQU.

I also live on Crescent Wood Road and both my and my neighbours plates were stolen earlier this year. It's easily the darkest street around so it's no wonder. We also had our skip stolen from outside the house back in January.

Not sure what we can do about it. There was a campaign for more street lights once but people on the road are generally against more street furniture for some reason. Maybe proximity lights outside the front of your house although some people say they make it easier for burglars.

Actually, I think it is possible to get thief proof fixings. I got some from Halfords but they were a right pain to put on, worth paying Halfords to do it for you.
