Come dine with us !!

Have you ever watched come dine with me and thought you could do a better job ? Do you make a mean cheese cake or a wicked Balti ?
2 guys in a loving relationship want to have you over for dinner and then you return the favour the next week. Im 28 and my partner (in crime) is 34, we live in the Sydenham area.
We are looking for people male or female around our age to have fun with and hopefully make new friends in the process, although sometimes my cooking wouldn’t be the best way to make friends hehe
Ideally we would like to get a group of 5 or six people together, couples or singles.
If you like the sound of this and think you can throw a memorable night (for good or bad) drop me a line and I’ll arrange something.

That's a great idea. We'd love to take you up on it but we're finding it a little tricky to entertain at the moment (kids, Christmas etc). I hope it works out for you.

The original poster did come up with an interesting idea - not one I would want to do myself (you really DON'T want to try out my cooking!) but hopefully they'll get some sensible responses and find enough people to make it work, so good luck with it guys.

I can't see why, sounds like an nice idea to me. I'm slightly addicted to the programme itself - but I don't think any dinner party would be the same now without a sarcastic voice over

Haha, yeah the More 4 omnibus type edition on Sunday evenings is a guilty pleasure of mine. Love the sarcastic voiceover

This is a lovely idea from a charming programme. A little risky though as you could get stuck with a couple who you really don't get on with. What would you do? Do you interview beforehand to get to know them better? Sounds a little risky to me as you wouldn't want to offend anyone who has taken an interest in this experimental socialising idea. Do post to let STF know how it pans out. Hope it works out. Good luck.

This is a great idea, my partner and I would definately be up for this BUT -we are between kitchens right now. So would return the favour at a later date.
We are in Homecroft Road and would love to meet up with similar people.

That's a brilliant idea. My wife and I have two boys and so would not be a suitable match but your idea is brilliant.

Perhaps at some point I might copy your idea to reach out to similar families as mine. I love to cook and can sometimes be quite good at it. Sometimes not so good.

I would love to have an annual progressive dinner party amongst a few people in the community at some point in the future. Several courses all in different houses. Perhaps with some sitters to look after any kids. It should be a party for them too.

The final house, for desert etc., would also be where the evening's entertainment would happen, possibly availing of community musicians, comedians and the like.

Just throwing some ideas around.

Sorry, I don't mean to hi-jack this thread. I'll post again on this at a later stage along with some other community ideas.

I think it's a great idea, but I'm too much of a chicken to invite a load of strangers into my house. It's a long way off, but how about, in the summer, a picnic in a local park where everyone brings some nice homemade grub and a bottle of wine? Neutral ground and a (possibly) larger attendance might encourage more posters to turn out?

I think the manner in which alcohol is consumed in public is the important issue - in a park, not bothering anyone else is fine. On a high street, staring at everyone who walks past, can be a little disconcerting for some people.
