I bought a tree today from outside the closed hypermarket. The people working there were incredibly helpful and friendly and have very nice trees which are very good value. They smell great too. It's that sort of service that makes me want to shop locally. They left me with a smile on my face.
One a sour note, is that really how the tree for the high street is going to stay with its great security fences shoved around it like some pedestrian access outside Millwall football ground? It looks horrible.
It's a shame there isn't a competition to find the best window display in the high street either. No-one seems to have made of an effort (but that goes for the rest of London, even central London feels depressing, what's the obsession with white and black decorations this year?).
Was there a shop window competition before for best Christmas window display?
Just to leave this post on a positive note, the Dolphin has created a gingerbread version of lower sydenham which looks great fun.
