For those of you who cannot forget Bottom the Weaver's performance as the ever-dying Pyramus in the Dolphin 'A Midsummers Night Dream' - there is a chance to see the man behind the ears doing stand-up comedy as Karl Edrik at The Hob on Nov 26th, 27th & Dec 3rd, 11th, 8pm-9.30pm.
The Hob is the new home of the East Dulwich Comedy at 7 Devonshire Road, SE23.
Karl's website is: https://karledrik.brainsys.com
Karl promises to be back in Sydenham as part of next summer's Sydenham Arts Festival.
I think a regular comedy evening would be popular in Sydenham - i would love it if the Dolphin or similar organised something. It would be great not to have to go the Crystal Palace/East Dulwich or central London to find an event.
I'm looking forward to the Sydenham festival but surely there could be other events happening throughout the year?

Maybe the Woodman could try it to help get people in on a weeknight? It always looks so empty there in the week when I go past. I've been to the comedy night at the Bedford in Balham and it really draws in the crowds even when the comedians aren't that great!
Karl lives in the middle of Sydenham. Indeed an equal distance from all the major Sydenham pubs. So its just a case of the landlord making that call ... I know that even the mention of his name has certain SydSoc ladies swooning ...
I don't see why comedy can't come to Sydenham - they used to have comedy nights in the Greyhound. OK, I'm going back a bit but they always seemed to be popular.
Making a dish out of clay on a potters wheel. Its a skill he learned at art school or some such place. It used to be part of his act. He would get a female from the audience and to a 'take' on the scene from ghost. Hence my terror.
