Roofer / Chimney specialist in local area?

I had a roofer round today re. some damp coming through at the top of one of my rooms - turns out that it's the Chimney stack - will need either to be re-built or have some serious work done to it. Can anyone recommend a good roofer / chimney specialist?

Oh dear, I don't envy you... I have a friend who has moved away now but still owns her flat in Newlands Park - she has had exactly the same problems as you and its been going on for years... she has had roofers, builders, the lot, up on her roof and only recentely I think she has had it sorted. In the end she had to get a surveyor up there to find out exactly what was causing the problem (it could have been a number of things). My advice is to spend good money up front in finding out what the problems is. Only then can you find the right person to fix it, take your time, it is a costly business. I think my friend had someone recommended by the surveyor - I will find out what happened and see if its fixed.

Good advice Savvy. On the point of which firm I have renovated my property recently and for the roof work I used a firm called Alltype Roofing (i'll check out the guarantee but think they're in Catford). Don't let that put you off as where flat-roof work was acrried out there's a 25 year Pluvitec guarantee from the manufacturer and certificates on all lead skirting, tiles etc - very re-assuring.

Probably just needs some new lead flashing - get a ladder and take a look for yourslef b4 you get ripped off.
