My local gripe is the sudden lack of availality of "outer zone" travelcards.
I've had endless debates with local vendors about the existance (or otherwise) of Travelcard Zone 9 (formerly travelcard zone 6D). Yes it does exist, and yes I would like to buy one.
Worse, I'm also having difficulies buying travelcards for zones 5-6. The costcutter in Penge no longer sells then. What, does no one from Penge travel want to travel to Bromley or Croydon, and then to central London in the same day?!
The 202
I just had the following reply from tfl about the 176 service:
Re: Sydenham Bus Routes
Thank you for your email of 19 September. I am sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with bus routes in the general Sydenham area. I was, however, interested to read you suggestion to re-route the 176 bus service, and I can understand why you feel this change would benefit passengers.
While there are no current plans to amend route 176 in the manner you have described, I would like to assure you that we continually monitor the bus network to see if any changes can be made to improve the level of service offered to passengers. The suggestions we receive from passengers are an important part of this process. In recent years, our aim has been to offer more high frequency services to key local centres, with good interchange facilities for longer journeys. This allows us to provide a more reliable service.
Please be assured that we make every effort to connect local centres and residential areas - and to respond positively to requests for direct connections. But it is not always possible to provide a direct link for every journey or implement all of the suggestions we receive. Ultimately, we have to make sure that we use the resources available to provide services that will benefit the majority of passengers using a route.
Your feedback on this subject will be kept so that it can be taken into consideration when route 176 and other services in the area are next formally reviewed.
Thank you for your correspondence. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of further assistance.
