I'm afraid I'll have to back out on this one - working in finance finally took its final toll on me Wednesday, and I'm now in the market for a new job. Going to be spending the weekend chasing up contacts and leads, which is always a torturous process. Hopefully I'll be able to make the next one!

Anyone mind if I might pop along? If Bensonby and Thomas (who seem good sorts) are there then I might be able to make a swift one in the GL or TD for 7...I have to be in 'Ammersmif by 8ish

If I'm going to be part of the forum like I was when Julwz et al held court then might be good to meet some of the more 'vocal' members straight off the bat.

Pink F.T. you say? Let me know please if you mind.

I should be in the Golden Lion at 7..... myinternet at home is a bit hit and miss at the moment (technical difficulties) so I might not be able to confirm this. But assume I'll be there. I'll be wearing a tweed jacket and brown cords probably....its not like I have any other clothes :P

Maybe I'll skip this one until such time as I know you all better from posting. I come from a heritage of Julwz, Leaf, Newman, Stuart (Admin), Falkor, Lemonade, Illuminance etc - doubtless got some names wrong but think I need to ingratiate (or otherwise) into this new clan first? Why so certain it's a case of offending yet Thomas? I understand though that you have all been in contact for a wee while now so unless otherwise advised I'll pass (and no, I am not fishing).

I'd be more than happy to meet you Greg - I did read a lot of your posts before I started posting and I found them very entertaining. It takes a lot to offend me, so I don't think you'll be offending me, at least for a while, and I generally prefer to actually meet the people who contribute to debates. However it wasn't me you called a coward earlier this afternoon!

Thanks Thomas. I do remember you and I discussing the Gulbenkian pile next to the Dulwich Wood House? I haven't searched through the forums so I'm prepared to sit corrected. It would be good to meet some of the new & old stalwarts - what say you of the Eagle and Fishcox? Falkor? Sydenhamboy and all those who remain passionate and interested in Sydders.

You are right to point out I did call DutchCow, Nork1 and Goonerchamp cowards as quite clearly they are. I'd swop 1000 of them for 1 Pat. By that I mean I got into a (lopsided as she was/is infinitely better versed than I) debate with Pat Trembath which I regret as there has been nor will there be few better aligned to the improvement of Sydenham than she. From speaking to the owner of TD she's in there even more than I so she has the definite courage of her convictions.

I raise a glass to PT

Yes, I do remember that discussion about Six Pillars. Did you know that the pub next door is now closed for refurbishment and will reopen shortly as more of a restaurant?

Not sure about any other people, but Falkor's absence can be explained by this thread:

Yes, I await developments at DWH with keen interest. As I do contstantly with Beltwood. It's my own opinion that in many ways Sydenham Hill bests even Hampstead Heath...I appreciate that may sound absurd but is the view from Kenwood House better than that from Beltwood? Which is the higher? Which has the greater heritage and history?

All that he says/she says aside (did you know I was schooled in Winchester, does that make me Greg Whitehead better than those schooled in Marlborough?) my REAL question is does anyone know how high Sydenham Hill roundabout is (by Eliot Lodge) and is it London's highest point above sea level? I think Shooters Hill in Woolwich might run it close but other than that DO WE LIVE ON THE HIGHEST POINT IN ALL OF LONDON?

And the Six Pillars can be seen here: http://www.sydenham.org.uk/six_pillars.html

Welcome back greg. You have been missed. Indeed you are not the only one who misses Falkor. Sorry you can't make it tomorrow night. I guess that's a reminder to fix Time & Date of next meeting while Alib can still stand.

Re altitude - I'll pack my GPS but I doubt we will get that far tomorrow ...

Greg, It would be great if you can make it for one pint at 7pm. I would be interested in talking to you a bit re sydenham. alot is going on behind the "scenes" that you may be interested in, and I would also like to hear your take on some "initiatives" that are happening. I agree with your statements on PT, she is a strong force in sydenham. Have you met Tim Lund yet ?

Anyway this could all be discussed over a quick pint at 7pm. I will be there then, maybe a little earlier. I won't have a pink FT, but I am the 6'4" and will most likely be wearing jeans, white shirt and black coat...

Boon, what did you do in finance? May be able to help with more contacts...

Ah, the keyboard warrior returns, bileous as ever. Hello Greg, how are you? A year on and with two scathing namechecks in the last 24 hours I must say I'm honoured if not a little surprised that someone of my lowly status has made such an impression.

Welcome back, we've missed you.

Scott seems to be straining at the leash to get an earlier kick-off in the Golden Lion. I will possibly be in there before 7pm. It's easy to spot STF members as they are the ones tucked in to a corner, furtively watching everyone who enters the pub and trying to make that vital 'eye contact'.

I wear black jeans and jacket. 6ft tall and not unlike Ross Kemp. except carrying a bit of extra poundage round the waist. I know Admin, Juwlz, Lambchops, Thomas, Scott I Hamilton and a few others, so it won't be a problem identifying us.

Everyone is welcome........
