New board game night at Ignition

Post by JMLF »

Dear all,

Just wanted to pop on here to highlight a new event at Ignition Brewery which I’m helping to setup. It’s a monthly games night on the last Thursday of each month - so this Thursday! The brewery and games will be available from opening (5pm) with a bunch of volunteers/games fans who are kindly bringing games and/or on hand specifically to teach people games. Obviously you can pick a game yourself and go at your own pace or bring your own and teach others. The night is meant to be a social affair rather than a hardcore gamers group but hopefully will have enough on offer for everyone!

Classics such as Monopoly and Scrabble will be available as well as more recent classic offerings and smaller/simpler games such as Pandemic, Machi Koro, Ticket to Ride, Exploding Kittens, Dixit, Jaipur, Forbidden Island, Kingdomino, A little wordy, Codenames and Sushi Go.

Lastly there is expected to be a couple of “heavier” games (ie: more complex and longer) in case there are a few people interested.

No booking required, just turn up! Would be greatly appreciated if anyone fancied turning up for the first one or passed the information to anyone who may fancy it!

Many thanks,

J

Ps: The monthly quiz I run on the first Thursday of each month at Ignition (7-9ish) is still free and going strong but does require booking to avoid disappointment! Book with max@ignition.beer

Just a little reply/reminder of this in case of interest - the inaugural one had 11 people turn up to learn/teach and play games whilst being a bit sociable and having a drink.

If it’s something you or anyone you know may fancy, please pass the info on or pop on down next Thursday (last of each month) - Ignition open and games available from 5pm with “gamesmasters” offering to teach games from 6ish.

Thanks,

J

Well I’m glad I returned to post! Any questions fire away and I’ll be there from 5ish (!). Hopefully see you and anyone you fancy bringing on Thursday :)

Very doubtful you would need to book a table but if you are coming as a group of 4 let’s say might be worth emailing max@ignition.beer to book.

Just the monthly reminder for the games night - all the info is as aboveish but long and short is:
Last Thursday of the month (so this one as Feb is short) - board games at Ignition. People on hand to teach games from 7ish til close but majority of games available from opening at 5pm (I drop a rucksack load round at 5!)

Typically we have 10-12 folk turn up to have a social time/play games/drink beer for a few hours.

No need to book, just turn up!

Re: New board game night at Ignition - Update!

Post by JMLF »

Morning all -

Just a little update on this. Due to it being difficult to get a decent number of regulars on the last Thursday of the month there are two incoming changes.

Firstly it will be on the THIRD Thursday of each month - next one being Nov 16th!

Secondly although not up yet it’s due to be bookable on eventbrite (a la the quiz). Although it’s not necessary in the slightest, the benefit to the booker is that they will get 20% off their first drink (which brings a pint for example down to around £4.65) and the benefit to ignition is that hopefully they get a few more regular attendees.

Anyways, I’ll add the link when it’s set up and games are available from opening but people there to help teach games (as well as further games available) will be from 7ish onward.

Many thanks,

J

Hey Andrew - This Thursday is the quiz (!) - the first Thursday of each month. The board game evening is now the THIRD Thursday of the month so the 15TH FEB! Would be brilliant to get another regular if you are a bit of a gamer! We have tried to keep the night going but numbers are generally 4-6 people (still better than nothing!) and we all bring games that we want to play/try (we message each other beforehand!) etc.

Happy to DM or if you wanted me to add you to the WhatsApp group just shout me your number (and that counts for anyone else here!).

7pm til closing on the THIRD Thursday of each month going forward! (Hopefully!!)

Cheers,

J

Just a little bump for the board game night this coming Thursday. Think we have around 10-12 people confirmed so if you fancy a board game, socialising, a ping or a bit of all 3 feel free to come join from 7ish.

Any abilities/experience welcome, bring a game or just play what the regulars bring.

The more the merrier. Third Thursday of every month.

Also side note, Sydenham community library are setting up a board game facet to the library which we will be supporting (and perhaps vice versa) so if you enjoy games there will be a load available to play in the library or borrow going forward!

Many thanks,

Jonathan
