It has been some time since I posted here.

But the football continues and we are always looking for new players to join the group. We are a group of players, many from Sydenham although some have moved away but still play. Wide range of ages (late teens to late 50’s) and ability playing both 5- and 7-a-side at a friendly competitive level.

So if anyone is interested in playing we kick off at 9pm on Wednesday nights at the Goals centre next to Elmers End station.

Hi all - Darren’s PM about the 15th anniversary of this group in May prompted me to login to the forum for the first time in many years.

As one of the original players when Alib pulled together just enough players for a game I am staggered to see the support is so strong and Darren continues to drum up enthusiasm. We could only have dreamed of 10 players initially, let alone 20+. Regrettably I won’t be able to make the reunion, and having long hung up my football boots and taken up drinking on a semi-professional basis I wouldn’t have lasted 5 minutes on the pitch.

Have a great reunion and long may the 5-aside footie continue.

I can only mirror Saul's comments. The fact this small club is still going after 15 years, and increasing in popularity is testament to the current leadership, and the enthusiasm of previous/current players. I live in West Wales now, and trips to the smoke are a rarity and need particular planning. Unfortunately I can't make the anniversary, but am hopeful of a visit perhaps later this year. The years haven't been particularly kind, and if I were to tread the turf, it would perhaps be for 5 minutes of sitting in the goalmouth, wearing the gloves,....to assist with picking the ball out of the net.
