Seems it's been a while in planning so hopefully the actual building work won't drag on for years.
The retail unit has a prominent spot so it would be great if it could be something useful, rather than another barbers or nail salon...

The planning applications have indeed been through several iterations, of decreasing ambition, with all except the last being vigorously opposed. Early versions looked like a stack of shipping containers! Since my wife and I live in the listed building next door we took a very active interest in the proposals.
