I wonder if this is connected to the shooting on Burghill Road a few weeks ago.

Tragic
Tragic loss of life. Somewhere a mother/family is mourning the loss of her son

This is so sad.
I wonder what actually happened. Family state chased by youths on funeral cost fundraiser, but 35 yr old woman charged.

Re: More senseless death
Yeah, all very sad but equally strange that the poor lad was apparently chased by a group of boys because of his disabilities, but then a 36 YO women got involved. Confusing reporting.

It's getting sadder. Four now charged: http://londonnewsonline.co.uk/two-teena ... -sydenham/

There was one in 2010 - 21 years ago....otherwise I’ve not heard anything either. Perhaps the poster could qualify?

It was 9 March around 7 p.m. There was a gunshot, the road was close off by police. I believe someone was shot in the leg.
Re: More senseless death
Since I moved to Sydenham there have been more murders than I’ve seen police on the street. Ive never seen one one foot ever.

Re: More senseless death
Sadly the lack of police on the streets is not exclusive to Sydenham. We definitely need our "beat bobbies" back...syd wrote: 2 May 2021 19:49 Since I moved to Sydenham there have been more murders than I’ve seen police on the street. Ive never seen one one foot ever.
Re: More senseless death
Police on foot patrol are horrendously inefficient and ineffective in all but the most specific circumstances.
Re: More senseless death
Good to hear from you Bensonby - police on the street might by much objective measurement be inefficient and ineffective but are we measuring the right things. Is citizen morale measured and what value is given to it? Are citizens more likely to become involved and speak to the police if they see police walking and talking in their communities? What is the value we attach to these sort of measures?
Similar to whoever said that we know the cost of everything but the value of nothing - I paraphrase.

Re: More senseless death
There are rumours of another fatal stabbing on Sydenham road, near the library, but I can't find anything about it in the news. Does anyone have any info? Hoping it's not true.
