Should be able to do Saturday, Friday is doubtful. This seems to be fine, since Saturday seems to be more popular so far.

keep the comments coming

and Bensonby, I've just checked article 7 of the rail users manual (ammended 2006) and in paragraph 4 it states that all Sydenham rail users shall be free for the Saturday.

Don't be scared

I'm afraid as an "annoying animal" the free travel will not apply to me because of byelaw 16(3) :(

Thanks for special invite AliB - but apologies for absence for first half of October. However an early date for a pre-Xmas pub crawl will be put in my diary when known

Hmm, just been reading the New Scientist. We may not need to go out on 11th Sept....(the following is para-phrased)

"The LHC is the daddy of all particle accelerators, By smashing together protons travelling just shy of the speed of light, the LHC will generate the largest concentration of energy ever seen in the lab-albeit in a region less than the size of a speck of dust. On 10th September 2008, the protons are set to make the first of the 11,000 or so laps they'll complete each second areound the LHCs 27km ring."
Mattew Chambers, New Scientist (30th Aug 2008)

Some people have speculated that the collision of protons at such high speed could even create black holes which could swallow us up.

Hey, just checked the footie listings and I'm free to attend the pub crawl on Saturday 11th Oct!

One thing you may wish to consider though is that England v Kazakhstan kicks-off at 17:15. This is on ITV (I think) so may mean that the pubs will not be overly packed out.

(one small caveat though: it is my mate's 30th bday on the 13th and she may decide to go clubbing on that Sat...)

Taking into account some comments made about beers and the route, the following is suggested.

Saturday 11th October

Start 7pm at the Golden Lion.
Dolphin
Two Halves
The Railway
The Windmill
The Woodman
The Bricklayers (A Youngs pub to finish)

Sounds alright to me. The only other thought I had is that some people might not be able to start at 7 and want to join a bit later, so it might be an idea to give an indication of where we'll be at say 8pm?

Oh, and is there any chance that we might get the odd free pint - just think of the publicity we are generating for these pubs!

Thomas,... you are wierd.
First you suggested an energetic Massdebate on the Sydenham station gating thread and now you want 'odd pints'. Coupled with visits to some tunnel in Crystal Palace Park, i am wondering if you are really a sexual predator? I think we should know the truth.......

On a serious note, all those interested in joining us (at whatever stage) please PM me in advance and I'll give you my mobile number to see where we are on the night...and NO, it isn't a premium rate number for a massage parlour.

Bensonby. You flit between the extremes of annoying g1t and informed ...g1t. Apologies, words are difficult to find this late in the evening.
Bensonby, I challenge you to show yourself. You should no longer reside in the shadows as some lunatic trainspotter. Have some bollo's, bring some wonga and we'll have a great time.

Why thank you.

I am down to work that day, well, that night, but I shall see if I can change it.

I'm up for a random drink on a weekday night (mostly) after next week if anyone fancies a quick pint?
