My grand kids outing today was cancelled ause there were no trains at Sydenham Hill. Apparently because of a fatality at Penge East:

RIP and condolences to family and friends. This is, I think, the third time in a month we have had 'person on the line' in the area.

Another person on the line at Penge East
Re: Another person on the line at Penge East
Third?
I knew of one other, but not two.
The poor family and friends. Let's not forget the train driver - and station staff, police, firefighters ... too.

Measured by train diversion reasons given at Victoria. But in the end this is not a numbers game. Every single loss counts overwhelmingly to the survivors.

According to this link it was a 64 year old lady from Sydenham: https://www.kentlive.news/news/kent-new ... ge-2772900
Coincidentally or not the advert running on the page for me was from the Samaritans. We don't know whether the incident was deliberate or accidental but too many are the former. Just a reminder if you are in despair there is always somebody you can talk to and will try to be a good friend and in complete confidence.
The call from any phone is FREE. The number is 116 123. There are many other options to make contact: https://www.samaritans.org/how-we-can-h ... samaritan/

Re: Another person on the line at Penge East
This time Penge West.
I was on the the 11:57 train from East Croydon which was delayed getting into Norwood Junction and then stopped. Southbound trains were also cancelled. The driver said it was a person struck at Penge West with emergency services attending.
I abandoned the train and rode home. There were helicoptery sounds as I went down Thicket Road. Couldn't see where it had landed. But this is not good. Not only for the person but traumatic for the driver too.

Re: Another person on the line at Penge East
I was at Penge East when I saw the Air Ambulance going over - it certainly looked as though it was headed in the direction of Penge West or thereabouts - and then when I was checking National Rail I saw that there were delays to trains between London Bridge and Croydon, so feared the worst
