Shhhhhdenham

Post by JMLF »

I thought I’d pop up a few things that are a bit hidden in/around Sydenham which people may not know much about but may have an interest in! Feel free to add!

1. Bimonthly wrestling from Battle Pro Wrestling at Livesey Hall in Lower Sydenham https://m.facebook.com/BattleProW/?locale2=en_GB and @BattleProW (twitter)

2. Art collective/space in Lower Sydenham - http://www.blacktowerprojects.com/about/

3. Bromley Beekeepers just inside Bromley border in Lower Sydenham (Allotments at 91a Kent House Rd, opposite Woodbastick Rd) - http://www.bromleybeekeepers.org.uk/apiary/

4. Lewisham Indoor Bowls Centre - Lower Sydenham (Kangley Bridge Road) - https://www.fusion-lifestyle.com/centre ... ls-centre/

5. Aerial aerobics/gymnastics in Lower Sydenham (Bell Green) - https://www.myaerialhome.co.uk/ and @MyAerialHome

6. Sugahill Cafe (Kirkdale, opposite pure gym/mamma dough) - if you haven’t been recently they have shifted a few things around in the space, have loads of vinyl/music on sale and have regular events - https://m.facebook.com/SugahillCafe/?locale2=en_GB and @Sugahill_Cafe

Thanks for this! The beekeepers one is interesting - local honey is meant to be good for hayfever so I will be investigating that...

Wrestling  I had no idea!

Do I get a commission for my flowers... that seem to feed numerous varieties of bee?

A good thread. Thank you.

The Fit Pills bootcamp in Mayow Park on Sunday mornings is brilliant and really good value.

8: The Sydenham Film Club (http://www.sydenhamfilmclub.org/ and @SydFilmClub) has been running since 2011! It is now under the umbrella of Sydenham Arts - (http://sydenhamarts.co.uk/ and @SydArts_ ). Screenings are at the Sydenham Centre (above ignition brewery / the post office ) and drinks, local beers from ignition beer & nibbles are available on the night. Next one happens to be tomorrow night!

9: Downstairs at St.Christopher’s shop (https://www.stchristophers.org.uk/ and @StChrisHospice) - next to Kirkdale Books & opposite The Greyhound has a small treasure trove of vinyl. Pair it with a trip to Sugahill Cafe to inadvertently buy more music then intended.

10: There are approximately 15 Geocaches hidden around SE26. It’s essentially a free worldwide treasure hunt. www.geocaching.com/play for further info!

No problem at all Dotterz. Geocaching is great for exploring areas (especially the ones in parks/trails/historical places rather than the ones around busy roads) and we tend to do a couple when bored and a nice day, part of a walk or whenever on holiday! Glad you and the little one are enjoying it :)
