axe murder: 5 men charged

Post by ALIB »

Admin may have to assist here. I couldn't see this on other forums, and i know there was previously a topic......

Apparently 5 men have been charged with the 1987 murder of Daniel Morgan.

IF they are found guilty I hope they never see daylight again.

(Please feel free to add more details, as this is all i know at present, according to the Headline of the South London Press.)

Five charged with axe murder

FIVE men charged over the axe murder of private eye Danny Morgan 21 years ago are to stand trial on April 21 next year.

Mr Morgan, 37, was found dead outside the Golden Lion pub in Sydenham with a hatchet embedded in his head on March 10, 1987.

His former business partner, William Rees, 53, of Village Close, Weybridge, Surrey, is charged with his murder.

Also accused of murder are homeless Garry Vian, 47, his jobless brother, Glenn, 49, of Orchard Road, South Croydon, and builder James Cook, 53, of The Glade, Kingswood, Tadworth, Surrey.

Retired Metropolitan police detective Sidney Fillery, 61, of The Street, Thurne, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, is charged with perverting the course of justice.

Yesterday four of the men, excluding Garry Vian, appeared at the Old Bailey via videolink from prison.

Most of this is very old re-hashed news reported here last April:

Nice to see SLP catching up with us - actually the development was the extra two charged and there was a procedural hearing at the old Bailey. I didn't think it significant to report as the real news will be when it comes to trial. Be sure you will get that reported full throttle!
