Sydenham Station plans

The ongoing project to digitise historic plans and elevations held by Network Rail is producing some fascinating material. I put in a request, so Sydenham and Lower Sydenham material has jumped the queue, and been put online. The plans are quite shabby, having suffered over time, but contain some lovely detail and information. Do have a look! I have pasted below the email I received, from the lovely Naomi Lewis, Records Assistant at the project.

"I have done a search of our collections for Sydenham and Lower Sydenham Stations and found a few drawings for each.

The drawings have been uploaded onto our online picture library, Media Storehouse, in the Sydenham Station and Lower Sydenham Station Galleries.

For further records, I would suggest looking at The National Archives and the local archive/record office for the area as they may hold relevant records or highlight which other organisations hold records.

It might interest you to know that specifically for Sydenham Station, the East Sussex Record Office hold records relating to the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway Company and the Southern Railway Company. For Lower Sydenham Station, the London Metropolitan Archive holds records for the Mid-Kent Railway Company and the Kent Archives hold records relating to the South Eastern and Chatham Railway Company."

The images have been uploaded as thumbnails to the archive shop, so you can buy a print or a mouse mat! Soon it should appear on the corporate archive, which will allow us to look at them in detail.
