I live in Peak Hill Ave and its always been a nightmare for parking because a) its proximity to the station and b) the fitness club on Kirkdale. Well things have gotten far worse, since the opening off the new 24 hr Pure Gym.
This week I have suffered over £1500 worth of damage to both the back and front of my car. The weasel that did this has made no attempt to contact me, just left me with this damage!!
I am not the only one just a bit unluckier than most, it seems that most people have big problems reversing and being a dead end street, they then try out their turning skills, which it transpires are worse.
Now I obviously do not know who did this, but one only has to hang around the street for a short while to witness some of the worst driving I have ever seen. I have witnessed several Fitness club clients having excessive difficulties with these manoeuvres and scrapping vehicles, but my vehicle has suffered a huge impact . . .
Why one should drive to the gym beats me, walk and save the subscription and my car!!!
In addition they also empty their rubbish in the street. I know the local counsellors are aware of these goings on, but are powerless to do anything.
So if you park in Peak Hill Ave beware.

Re: Parking Chaos
It sounds absolutely awful. I think this longstanding pressure is the reason for the delay on Nando's, as delivery by multiple freelance delivery services, totally out of the control of the restaurant manager, could end up as the Wild West. Short of a permanent police presence, the pressure for parking would be a nightmare. Sorry you are having to put up with this, and I hope that you complain to the gym, cc the council highways, trading standards, planning etc etc.
Re: Parking Chaos
I was with a group of neighbours last night. When I mentioned CPZ - there was some enthusiasm. While it isn't a panacea it at least reduces the the demand to the local residents in an area excellently served by public transport.
It would be good if our local councillors could take a lead on sorting this problem over an increasing area of Sydenham.

Let’s hope it doesn’t. The idea that I can’t go to a local restaurant because some people are seemingly unable to control their own vehicles would be absurd.
Re: Parking Chaos
hopeyeu, parking is one thing, bashing cars is quite another. Does your insurance company advise anything? I might want to ask them anonymously though as presumably one could become uninsurable if damage were thought inevitable.
Would a heavy plastic dustbin front & behind work? What about a big sign on your front saying that CCTV is in operation? Maybe even get such a camera. Or one of those awful, but in your case useful, trembler car alarms. The trouble is that there are rarely any witnesses around amy CPZ could take ages even if agreed.

Re: Parking Chaos
I think reporting it to the police and council is important. If the gym is 24hr operating that may require a licence or special conditions for planning permission. It might be possible for the council to require the gym & Nandos to pay for CCTV, to prove it isn't their customers causing a nuisance. Come to that, tweeting your woes while hashtagging the gym name might encourage them to deal with the problem before it gives them a bad name........
