v fussy people can you rec hairdresser in sydenham please
Hi there, I am desperately looking for a VERY GOOD hairdresser in the area (i dont mind male/female stylist) - I have short hair and because of this am very fussy as it requires proper cuttting/styling. I am blonde and also have foil highlights - platinum blonde - have found very few hairdressers who can actually deliver this colour (either it comes out yellowish or comes out beautifullly to start with and fades in no time - as if they use a watered down bleach???) So if you are as fussy as me and have been happy with cut and colour at a local hairdresser please let me know. i have been to OTT next to Somerfield - not that impressed.
Many thanks!!!

Hi am also very fussy with my hair and trust not many hair dresser.
Having had a number of bad experience with hair dresser in Sydenam, i now go to ego in Penge High-street opersite Macdonalds.
I see a girl called steph and she charges £29.00 they are very clean and very professional and highly recommended.

I have actually used both. I used The Outback for a couple of years but left when my regular hairdresser left and the person who took over butchered my hair and didn't do what I asked for. Paula, the owner, is very nice and friendly and I wish I had mentioned it to her but I was just too upset at the time and never went back.
I have been going to Master Cutters now for about 3 years I think. I have had cuts from 3 different people and they have all been good.
I think they also do a 50% discount on first time appointments!

hairdresser
I too have scott at mastercutters doing my hair, have been going there for 10 years, i am always being commented on my hair.
Hey, guess what - Scott does my hair, too!
Great guy, been going to him since I moved here 6 years ago. He does evenings (very handy for when the kids go to bed).
I went there, as they were recommended for childrens hair - you just ring up for a stand-by and yesterday they managed to fit my daughter in within the hour.

Thanks for all this info as I was about to post the same question! I've used Outback salon twice - the hairdresser I had the first time was great but when I went back for an appt. with her for a colour was told she had left & was dealt with by the most appalling hairdresser. Yes - Paula is a lovely person but that isn't enough to make it a good / professional salon. So, it's good to hear about Mastercutters - I'm certainly going to try them.

Thanks once again for that! I went to MASTERCUTTERS and I have to say that I was 100% happy, they were brilliant! Last week Wed I booked in with Scott (on recommendation) for but his next available app which Monday (that's how in demand he is which HAS to be a GOOD sign!) but just couldn't hold out that long, so decided to give one of his directors a go - Tara did my hair and did an amazing job, cut/colour (always feel so anxious when going to a new hairdresser but she was lovely and most importantly she listened, gave great advice and I came out feeling like a new person.) Definately give them a go if you haven't and are looking for somewhere - also you get 50% off your first visit (saved me a whopping 60quid but don't mind paying full price hereafter to be this satisfied!

I've been to both! Mastercutters was a dreadful experience, I won't go into it as I guess it's not the done thing, but I had to write to Mastercutters after, who gave me my money back and offered me a free cut and colour - but I wasn't going back there, I can honestly say I wouldn't go near it after what happened to me!mumofanangel wrote:Hi thanks for that ladies! More comments welcome please!
Now i have to make a choice, MASTER CUTTERS (director Scott) OR THE OUTBACK???- anyone been to both?
Outback however are fantastic, EXCELLENT customer service, always talk you through anything you want done first etc. It's a very small salon, but it's worth going just for the service.
Having recently moved to Sydenham and wanting to support local businesses, I made an appointment at Master Cutters. The girl who cut my hair didn't do it how I wanted and, after a couple of attempts at improving things, asked for help from Scott. He managed to rescue the situation, although my hair was now a bit shorter than I wanted. No worries - it'll soon grow. I wasn't charged for the cut and Scott also gave me a voucher for my next cut. It's obvious that they really care about their customers, but don't just book in and take the first available hairdresser - get a personal recommendation (of which there are plenty here!) I'll definitely be giving them a second chance.
I went to Master Cutters on Sunday and Scott did my highlights and cut and I am really pleased and suprised to find this quality of hair expertise so locally on our high street. I've had more positive comments about my hair this week than I've had for many years. Having always had my hair done in central London, I am delighted to have found out about Scott on this forum and the convenience of opening Sundays and late evenings is fantatstic. Highly recommend.
Mastercutters
Yes like you I go to Mastercutters to support local business. Due to time pressures, i have indeed just booked in with the first available stylist - quite a risky thing to do. I was lukcy first time to get Stephanie (with the gorgeous jet black tresses) but I don't think she works there any more as I haven't seen her around. Shame! She was also cheaper (which is probably why I resist booking in with Scott). Overall though Mastercutters values its customers and delivers quality customer service.
