I have been looking at Acorn's web site who are the agents. Yesterday the Greyhound was under offer. Today it is "available"! Very disappointing if that is the case!

The sign outside has said that it's available for a few weeks now. I presume the original offer was withdrawn?

The surrounding area outside the Greyhound Pub is looking really unkempt and tatty. The walkway between the pub and the flats is full of litter. Not a good look for the gateway to Sydenham I'm sad to say....

Maybe we should start a crowdfunder campaign to buy it? I reckon they'd probably take 700 grand, maybe less.

It's on for £720,000. Given one prospective purchaser has already fallen through, and given the fact that I imagine its owners are very very keen to get shot of it, I'm guessing they would probably take £650,000. I am going to email all the independent pub chains in London and ask them if they are aware of it, and whether they would consider it. Can't hurt...

I mentioned about making a community pub many moons ago but it was ignored.

I have mentioned it to a few of the local micro-breweries aka Gypsy Hill about them getting together and buying it. So if anyone has a closer relationship with any of them perhaps they could mention it again.

It would be a great outlet for the half dozen or so small breweries from Brockley to Croydon.

I emailed several independent chains to make sure they were aware of the pub. Got a few responses. Well worth doing - shows the pubs that there's a groundswell of interested regulars.

After I mentioned it blithely above, I think, in the cold hard light of day, trying to get it community-owned would be a Herculean endeavour. Raising 70 grand would be hard enough. But 700 grand plus refurb and installation costs...

I did contact Phox and Co, who said they'd look into it. They are currently just a pop up bar at Brixton food market and other places but they specialise in selling local (South London Breweries) beers. This might be too much for them, but as a pop up it might work for a while.

One of the many independent pub chains that I emailed did reply to me saying they had initially offered, lost out to someone else, but were going to offer again now that it was back on the market.

If it turns out to be them that the Greyhound is currently under offer to then I think we'll all be very happy.
