Dear Mr Miles,
From Saturday 1 October until Friday 30 December, Tower Bridge will be closed to all traffic while the City of London Corporation carry out major essential maintenance works.
Closure details
The bridge will be closed from the junction of Tower Bridge Road and Queen Elizabeth Street on the south side, to the A100 Tower Bridge Road and East Smithfield junction on the north side.
Travel advice
Roads in the surrounding area will be busier than usual. A signed diversion route will be in place, via London Bridge northbound and via Southwark Bridge southbound. The Congestion Charge will not apply for journeys made via the signed direction of travel. There are also signed alternative routes for cyclists. While we will try to maintain a good service, some buses will be on diversion or will stop short of their destination.
Please allow more time for your journey. For detailed travel advice, including a map of the diversions and alternative routes, visit tfl.gov.uk/tower-bridge-closure

Re: Tower Bridge Closure
Doesn't say whether you can still walk across. Yes, some of us still walk ...
Stuart
EDIT: Just checked the link - yes you can (and presumably still wheel a bike). So its only motors that have a problem.

Re: Tower Bridge Closure
I know it's not an #SE26 issue but many SE26 residents will be affected either by trying to cross the river by other routes including Rotherhithe tunnel.
