It's round about now that birds start looking for nesting sites, and before too long, before leaves reappear, will be the best time for bird watching.
Paul is our local bird watching expert, who has led several walks in Mayow Park, but this year he is planning to combine a walk there with visiting Dacres Wood Nature Reserve - where the chances of seeing green woodpeckers, sparrowhawks and stock doves are better. Otherwise, Mayow Park, with the bigger spaces between trees, is probably the better location.
I'll keep you updated on when this walk will be, but in the meantime, after an event last September, when we constructed bird boxes for some of our trees
we still have some kits from the Nestbox Company to make up - and now is the time to make them.
