Sydenham Green Group Practice

Post by iandavenport »

I am a member of the patients forum at SGGP
The most common problem we come across is difficulty in getting appointments
in response to this they are making changes.
Unfortunately I cant work out how to link an image, so have just posted the text of their announcement - you will see it in full if you visit their website

Practice Alert - Appointment System Improvements

Service Changes 2016

In response to patient feedback we are changing our appointment system from 22nd February.

We will be changing a number of our on-the-day appointments into ones which can be booked in advance. We will also be making some changes to the duty doctor system.

This will result in up to 200 extra bookable appointments per week.

We will be keeping the duty doctor but these are only for urgent medical issues. We will ask patients with less urgent issues to use one of our bookable appointments.

In line with national developments in the NHS, there are other services available for many conditions which may be more appropriate, such as
•Pharmacy First scheme
•Walk in centres
•NHS 111

On the other hand I pretty much only use the on the day service so I'm not too happy about this as no doubt the available appointments will be gone before the pre 8am queue all get one meaning getting there even earlier (if I want to see a doctor I aim to queue from 7:20 now)
