Does anyone know if work has started on the southern part of the East London Line Extension yet?
It would be nice to have some good news for a change and I'm hoping that the 2012 Olympics will (if nothing else) ensure that the project doesnt get postponed (again) or cancelled altogether.
We could do with some focus on Sydenham to generate a bit of interest and hopefully some investment. I'm sure the oft mentioned regeneration of the highstreet will be kick started once TfL pick up their tools and start working.
Whilst the arrival of the tube may not make much of a difference to the number of trains / hour it will surely change peoples perception of transport in our area.
Also, does anyone know how / if the station will be reworked?
According to the published plan, they only have 4 and a half years until the thing is complete. The clock is ticking...

Why not come along to tonight's meeting about the future of Crystal Palace Pk and the National Sports Centre at Grove Centre, Jews Walk at 6.45 pm?
The LDA (sport) is the regeneration arm of the GLA, TfL ELLX) is the transport arm of the GLA. If ever joined up thinking is going to work then LDA and TfL should be talking to each other.
As I understand the regenerated NSC (with community sports facilities) will be used as a 2012 "training camp" for one or two teams of competitors. Superb transport links between our part of London and the Lea Valley will be essential.
Come along tonight and ask, nay demand, answers!

I have been in touch with the webmaster. He has kindly allowed me to use some of his ELLX material which I will use to beef up our pages. He also said this:
For the people on your forum, it might be worth me pointing out that as
things go, progress on the extension is going fairly well - although the
appointment of the companies for the enabling works and project
management isn't quite the same as seeing people move in with diggers
and cement, it's still very positive and will help make sure the project
is delivered on time. Construction isn't scheduled to start until June
next year anyway (there isn't actually that much to build, apart from
the stations on the northern extension - most of it is just laying
tracks or fiddling around with signals and junctions).
