I really need help deciding on moving my girls to Adamsdrill or Haseltine, seems everyone thinks Adamsdrill is not a good option.
I really want to get it right as my girls are so happy at their current school but need it closer to home.

Haseltone is an excellent school
Adamsrill was slipping but is now in a federation with two very successful schools led by a very effective Executive Head Teacher and Head of Schhool who took over 4 terms ago.
Either school will provide your daughters with a great primary experience I would say.

My daughter goes to Haseltine and she absolutely loves it. It is really a wonderful place and the staff are all fantastic. She's only in year 1 (age 5) and can already count to 100 in French and talks about grammatical theory I've never heard of!

I would visit both schools or go to the fairs to get a good feel of the atmosphere. We preferred the feel of Adamsrill to Haseltine and Ofsted can be misleading. It can all come down to the head teacher and both schools have got new head's since those results. We chose Kilmorie in the end although my son was very happy at nursery in Adamsrill and has lots of happy friends there too.

We are thinking the same thing for our 4 year old son who starts school in Sept!
We had a look around both - unfortunately the head wasnt around for our visit to Adamsrill which was disappointing and the tour was a bit chaotic, but it seemed like a decent school. They did say that Cynthia Eubank, the head who came in last year, is retiring at the end of the year so I am not sure what will happen after that.
I think my preference would be Hasletine - the head showed us around and was very passionate about the way they go about their teaching. All of the kids seemed really engaged in their lessons....and I mean all of them, not one child seemed to be disruptive or unengaged, which was impressive!
Be good to know if anyone else has any other feedback though - I did hear from someone else that "the teachers at Hasletine rule with an iron fist" but I think something like that all depends on your opinions on discipline!

I can't agree about the "iron fist " (whatever that means ) at Haseltine. Expectations of children (and families! ) are clear and consistent and consistently applied as well. Children know exactly where they stand and mis- behaviour is not tolerated but there is a very fair approach with an emphasis on children learning from their experiences and learning socialisation and propriety ways t delay with difficulties, plus anger management for those who need it. The best primary school locally we have seen was Kelvin Grove by a huge margin. The head, who is leaving unfortunately was amazing impressive. Outside of our catchment unfortunately.
Alexandra is supposed to be good, but same story as above.
We saw St Michaels and thought it looked promising. We never went to Adamsrill as we know some parents there and the gist was that it was failing and they were trying to pull their kids out of there.
I was put off by Haseltine after meeting some teachers a few years ago, but hear good reports now of the school so it's probably changed (and it was before their rebrand and higher ratings with Ofstead).
Many parents in my sons school are talking about Kilmorie (again, we aren't in it's catchment).
When we come to choose a school again, we may move, there are some really good schools around in neighbouring boroughs for secondary. It's a minefield though.

It's a shame people haven't looked round. We have a brilliant new building that has some great facilities. It's own art room with an excellent art teacher. Some of the work they're doing I didn't do till secondary school. There's lots of trips out, my son's class are going to the National Gallery this week. There's also a fantastic 'learning lounge' which is a library/learning room.
A very active and friendly PTA/Friends of Adamsrill.
Anyway just wanted to put my thoughts out there as we're in it and happy with the school.

My six year old goes to St Michael’s which she loves. We’re moving out of Sydenham and London soon and are struggling to find schools of the same standard.

Just to say Kelvin Grove has a wide catchment area at the moment so don't write it off if you are a bit further away from it. I have a child in Reception there and it was our furthest away school but we got in as did a few even further away (Adamsrill would be our nearest school). It's a great school, very vibrant and the staff genuinely care and work hard for the children, my child is thriving there...
