Internet outage last night?

I'm trying to work out whether there was an internet outage in the Sydenham area last night, 16th January? May only have affected people on wifi/mobile broadband. I suddenly found I couldn't get online any more at about 11 pm, and on swapping to a different computer I found that couldn't pick up any wifi signals either.

Which provider are you with? They will often have details of outages on their website or twitter feed. Ours was fine* - we are with Virgin.

* When I say fine, I mean slow as molasses even though it's supposed to be 'super fast'. But that's another (ongoing) story.

That's interesting, because usually BT Wifi-with-Fon is the first thing which comes up, but it wasn't there on Saturday - along with all the other Wifi providers. Was working when I tried again the next morning, anyway, so that was all right.

Do you mean you couldn't see any wifi networks at all including those of your neighbours etc? That suggests your router was temporarily on the fritz. If it was late evening and it's the one your provider gave you they may have been pushing through a software update.

No, it couldn't have been a software update. And there was no router involved - this was just using the built-in WiFi in my laptop.
