Saturday - Sydenham Road
Was just wondering if anyone knew the source of a loud bang (poss gun shot) on Sydenham Road on Saturday night about 11.30pm?
I was coming back from the cinema in Beckenham at that time, pulled into the Thorpes only to find them blocked off by police. Princethorpe and Dukesthorpe were shut off. We waited 5 minutes, decided to park, asked the PC what was going on, and were told they were looking for a stolen car. They said I couldn’t drive up my street because they had police dogs going into the front gardens. We looked and they were in or near our garden.
Ha! Police don’t look for stolen cars. And, if they do, they don’t use dogs. We waited a few more minutes and went for a drink at the Dolphin. 30 minutes later we tried again – police were still there. We asked if we could leave the car walk up to our house. At this point the dogs were on the other side of the road. We got home but the dogs were out and about for at least an other 30 minutes.
Did no one else see I want to know what was going on? Is it in my rights to call the police and ask what it was?
