Great to see lots of cafes opening up in Sydenham for people to meet. Such a shame that not one has a disabled/accessible toilet, not one pub has a disabled toilet except for The Pavillion and this is tricky to get into.
Disabled people spend money too and so do their families. To discriminate you need not actively turn your back on us- you simply need to do nothing. Many good examples elsewhere in Beckenham and Penge and that's where I'll be spending my money.

Very sad that Sydenham has so few disabled facilities.
Ironically there were excellent facilities at The Windmill that a lot on this Forum have been keen to pull down.
I hope some more are constructed soon

Genuinely surprised and disappointed to hear this . It can't cost much more to fit out with disabled access and obviously makes such a huge difference to people's lives .
I hope cafe and pub owners take note
A very good evening

I too am surprised by this, fatherstone.
Maybe it's fair enough if small places only have upstairs facilities, but surely short-sighted or uncaring if facilities on the same level.
Good to draw attention to this so that perhaps owners/lessees will consider how they could adapt for accessible facilities.
As to shooting self in foot by losing trade, fatherstone, it reminds me of that ages old Guinness advert:
"You're the 77th person I've told today - there's no demand for it."
I.e. there would be if they had it.
It is 2015 now. Hmm.

Thank you to those who replied. I am suprised that someone running a business would not want to maximise their footfall or in this case wheelfall over their threshold. Accessible facilities benefit the elderly, the disabled, mums with toddlers and low and behold thsoe able bodied people who through ilness or accident wind up needing a wheelchair.
If I am 25 and in a wheelchair I want to go to live music venues, pubs and clubs etc. I do not want to be hanging out at the garden centre !
