Many of you will have seen the fly-posts throughout Forest Hill and Sydenham town centres advertising a 'Summer Fun' event in Wells Park.
I'm sure the event will be indeed be fun and it will, I suspect, raise money for the upkeep of the park. All good stuff.
But the fly-posts are, in my view, an eyesore. In addition, flyposting is against the law.
To make matters worse, the posters explain that the event is organised by Glendale, who are... Lewisham Council's parks contractor.
So, while Lewisham Council spends time and money dealing with unauthorised fly-posts, its own contractor is contributing to the problem. Bonkers.
I understand that the Sydenham Society has raised this with Cllr Onikosi, who is both a Sydenham ward councillor and the cabinet member for the public realm. I'll try to find out what her response is.

'Summer Fun' fly-posts
I understand that Cllr Onikosi has asked the officer at the Council responsible for Glendale's contract to:
- Ask Glendale to remove the fly posts
- Remind Glendale that fly-posting is against the law
My thanks to Cllr Onikosi.
