Beer rebellion
Morning all,
I just received planning notification for a bar at 5 Kent House Road. The company Beer Rebellion have a few sites in SE. Does anyone know about this company?
Here are the details

Re: Beer rebellion
I've been to their place in Gipsy Hill. Very good beer and a nice atmosphere.
Re: Beer rebellion
Well this is exactly what I need. Beer and burgers within stumbling distance perfect!
Re: Beer rebellion
You can write in support of the proposal. I have.

Re: Beer rebellion
I guess this is the gradual gentrification of lower Sydenham. I hope that means lewisham will finally put some money into that neglected part of Sydenham high street opposite the kwik fit.
Re: Beer rebellion
Certainly a very good local brewery. Often drunk their beers.
Not sure about burgers . Not sure that goes with gentrification.

Eagle
Agree , excellent beer .
Re the burgers , don't be out off by
A - the burgers of Calais ( the garlic adds nothing ) or B , Saint Ethelburga ( misjudged the need for an all female burger outlet in the 4th century ).
I must admit really like a homemade burger or a Joanna's - would not even contemplate McD , Burger King etc
I think a really welcome addition to Sydenham
A very good evening - if that doesn't sound smugly gut bürgerlich

Re: Beer rebellion
Sounds great, one less empty shop, it's right next to the Alfred which is a little odd choice of location maybe. I hope it gets done before the summer is over at least.

Re: Beer rebellion
Its a red letter day I agree with Nigel and Eagle!!! Well about beer and burgers and Beer Rebellion and Joannas anyway. We going to a resturant tonight that supposed to has the best beer for miles around I must admit Ive never really thought of France as musch of a beer makin nation but apparenty like in the UK and a lot of Europ theres quite a big micro brewery thing goin on and certainly the bottle of Bier de Garde I had at lunchtime was lovely plus they asked if I wanted a bottle from the cellar (cold) or the fridge (ice cold) Im not much of a one for ice cold beer so being asked was a plesant surprise.

Re: Beer rebellion
Some progress at last!
My girlfriend and myself popped by the Beer Rebellion in Gypsy Hill and enjoyed their Peckham Rye IPA and wondered what was happening with all the talk about Late Knights coming to Lower Sydenham.
Fingers crossed for a speedy planning approval and a decent brewery coming to Sydenham. And it only being 5 minutes away from where we live!

Re: Beer rebellion
I've emailed licensing@lewisham.gov.uk telling them how I think Late Knights and their bars are a well run responsible business. If you have time please do the same.
Cheers and hopefully see you at the bar.

Nice one! More please more.
We have to make sure this one gets through.
The plans look pretty cool too - across two levels.
Exciting stuff.
See you at the bar.

Re: Beer rebellion
The hearing was concluded on Tuesday evening. The planning was granted but with conditions regarding no outside seating so don't know whether they will go ahead or not.
Re: Beer rebellion
Does that mean u can stand outside?

Re: Beer rebellion
No, the outside area is directly beneath the living room of a family home and any noise would we heard directly in the living room. There is permission for a small beer garden out the back but only until 6 PM as this also directly adjoins a family garden. I do hope it still goes ahead but don't know if they will. I do think if anyone is being objective, they would not want a pub beer garden arriving right next to their own front or rear.

Re: Beer rebellion
It is understandable regarding noise, why the council has disallowed seating at the front, but fingers crossed they will still go ahead.
Their pub in Gypsy Hill is very small, although they do have 4 chairs out the front (practically on the street). It would be such a shame if this puts them off!

Re: Beer rebellion
Sad if does not go ahead , although fully appreciate the neighbours concerns.
