SPORTS SHOP CLOSING?

Post by leenewham »

Is the sports shop in Bell Green closing (I forget what it's called despite passing it every day!). It has huge hand painted signs up at the window saying 'everything 90% off, warehouse liquidation sale'.

No, it's just a huge stock clearance. (It's Sports Direct, btw. One of the most successful retailers in the UK, so I doubt they are going anywhere anytime soon. Which is very sad news for those of us who have to look at that frontage every day while waiting at the lights opposite).

I wish it would close, doesn't look as if it does much trade anyway. That site should have been a restaurant but because it's Sydenham no one's interested. Shame.

It does plenty of trade. It's hard to tell because the windows are covered and the entrance on the side away from the road. I agree it's a shame these units weren't indivudally let to more attractive businesses. I assume Sports Direct took over a number of units and had the developer knock them through. It's a labrynth in there. Much as I don't like them, they have saved my parental bacon on several occasions when someone came home from school announcing they needed new rugby boots for the next day, or had lost their mouthguard and would be out of the team, or...

I have to agree with Rachael, whilst not being the easiest shop to navigate around, I always seem to find a bargain!

It would have been nice for a few restaurants maybe of course, but you answered your own question parker, it's Sydenham.

Anyway, the lovely McDonald's is accross the road
