The Pavillion - new colour

Post by Nigel »

Passing the Pavillion yesterday noticed the new colour scheme outside - yellow . Looks a bit unfinished and quite lively colour .

Must admit I don't like it - looks like one of those Australian themed pubs - prefer a more pubby colour - or spot tiling .

A very good afternoon

Just seen this. It's is pretty horrible.

Not sure why they have done it, it's also a conservation area, so how shops look is supposed to be regulated, which obviously isn't happening because it's not enforced and planning doesn't work properly for shops and high streets as its too complicated, too slow, not enforced or policed.

Lee
One of life's mysteries . Bye laws are made that people know will not be enforced .
One simple " I know you got two amateurs with a set of Homebase budget paintbrushes to paint it in a day - but you have to re- do it at your own cost or lose your licence within 7 days " would stop this forever and most of us would support LB lewisham wholeheartedly .
It's that simple - maybe thats why it doesn't happen
A very good evening

The Pavillion - new colour

I agree that the new colour is awful...

...but I'm afraid that a conservation area designation doesn't stop you from painting a building, unless the building in question is (nationally) listed or an 'Article 4 direction' has been imposed to remove the usual right to paint the building without permission.

the pub inside actually seems quite nice.
I'd never ventured in, before a couple of weeks ago, since it always looked dodgy from the outside, however with a new coat of paint it doesn't look so bad, and inside I was surprised that only a few of the locals in there gave me the kind of stare that you normally see in the worse kind of prison (apparently).
It was a Friday night, and they usually have Karaoke, but that night there was a very accomplished young lady singing, which seemed to be appreciated by those paying attention.
They have several large TV screens on the walls showing different sports channels, so one could keep up with any live football, golf, darts, horse races, etc that were happening at the time.

surprisingly better than expected.

can't wait for The Greyhound to offer competition.
