Night-time work on the railway - again

Does anyone know what the night-time work due to take place on the railway around the Sydenham area involves? It seems to be replacing old train with continuously-welded rail, but I thought the work a couple of years back had done that already?

We got a notice saying it was was to do with changing the tracks for longer trains and work would go on until April.
