No London Bridge Trains at Christmas

Post by Ronski »

From an Email today, going to be (even more) horrific at the Jubilee Line connection at Canada Water with nothing going to London Bridge.

"from Saturday 20 December until Sunday 4 January 2015, there will be engineering work at London Bridge mainline rail station, which will affect some National Rail and London Overground services. This is while Network Rail rebuilds the station as part of the Thameslink Programme to increase capacity and improve connections. London Bridge Tube and mainline rail stations will remain open.

If you normally use Sydenham station, your journey may take longer; please also note the following:

There will be no Southern services operating to or from London Bridge, from Sydenham, Forest Hill, Honor Oak Park, Brockley and New Cross Gate stations
• London Overground weekday services between Sydenham and Canada Water are expected to be busier than usual, with some crowding and queuing on platforms, especially northbound during peak hours
• An enhanced London Overground service will operate between Crystal Palace and Canada Water from Monday 22 until Wednesday 24 December, to help meet increased demand, with four additional trains per hour during the weekday peaks"

A curtailed service in the short term in return for an increased Thameslink service in the long term. Progress tends to come at a cost. In this case the construction of a graded interchange between NCG and LBG. This is only the first curtailment. Many more to follow.

BTW Crystal Palace station is shut Sunday to have a new roof put on. So trains to/from there.

Well that's ok then because swapping 10 carriage trains for 4 carriage ones will be very helpful and no-one works the other days like maybe the 29th, 30th, 31st, and 2nd Jan.
