CRYSTAL PALACE SUBWAY EXHIBITION
In the Crystal Palace Park Concert Platform (aka the rusty laptop) Free entry, open to all
Exhibition opening times 10am - 3pm both days
Volunteer researchers and interviewers have uncovered :
Memories of people who used the subway as an air-raid shelter in World War II
How in 1977 the subway almost became home to the London Air Museum
Stories of how the subway received up to 2000 visitors in one day on Subway Superdays
Many other unofficial uses of the subway
Join us for trains, art, video and sound clips, books, heritage, tea and coffee
The exhibition includes a scale model of the High Level Station built by the Southwark Model Railway Club who will be running models of the two last trains to leave the station exactly 60 years ago on 20 September 1954
Art work by local young people from Crystal Palace Community Development Trust art groups together with other Subway inspired work by local artists
Audio visual displays recounting the recent history of the subway, told by the people who used it
The Concert Platform building is wheelchair accessible and has toilets!

Lovely stuff. Was lucky enough to get tickets in the ballot to go down but the little exhibition at the sound stage/laptop looking thing in the park is worth a visit. Lovely friendly staff/people and a wealth of interesting info.
Sydenham society get a shout out too in one of the videos showing a subway superday where events/stalls were put on in the defunct station for the locals.
