Himalayan kitchen

Post by Nigel »

Has anyone tried this takeaway in Penge Lane ? Mrs Nigel and I enjoyed an exceptional Goan fish curry with accompaniments last night and I think it is the best takeaway I can remember . Everything was really fresh and despite my innate Anglo-Saxon tendency to over order it was still a really wholesome experience .
Perusing the menu I note that the meat and vegetables all come from Billings and Fresh and Fruity .
How many takeaways bother to say where their ingredients come from ? I also understand that Himalayan Kitchen is run by the excellent Neel Family who ran a home cooked food service in Sydenham .
A very good morning

I haven't tried it yet but several people have said it is really nice. Also nice to know when local businesses are supporting each other.

Wow, as you said, great to hear of a takeaway that can actually attest to the source of its meat - thanks for the tip Nigel!

How interesting. Coincidentally I was talking about Goan fish curry and noticed Felicity Cloake's Guardian rundown on it. There are a lot of ingredients, all bar one available in Sydenham stores, and although a lot are "cupboard" items, it's still the reason I prefer to leave it to the experts :D http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle ... fish-curry

What's the address please, also I think Penge Lane is on a bus route from Syd but can't remember which one. Ta.

the address is 17 Penge Lane, London SE20 , and its just before the railway bridge coming from Penge High street.
There is a 10% discount if you collect but they delivery free for orders over £15
