Re: Derelict property in Champion Crescent

Why was it derelict so long? I'm 37 and it had been like it before I was born!

What a coincidence they are doing it up now!

Derelict property in Champion Crescent

For probably 40 years there has been a derelict property in Champion Crescent with an abandoned car in the driveway. Is it still in the same state? Anyone know why?

Re: It's a dog's life on Homecroft...

They are private residents, either renting or owners.

Lots of the houses have been converted in to flats.

Agree about the bullshit stereotypes. The housing association tenants next to me are model neighbours, but there you go. My parents and grandparents were all brought up in council housing and ...

Re: It's a dog's life on Homecroft...

I would take a picture but never actually seen the dog doing it. But it must be them, it only started after they got a dog, is worst near their flat and they are general anti social tossers.

Again with noise nuisance it's really difficult to get anything done about it.

Re: It's a dog's life on Homecroft...

One of the flats at the top end of homecroft got a new dog a few months ago and since then there has been dog crap up and down Homecroft Road, I'm almost certain it is them, especially as it seems to be on their side of the road and near their flat.

It really pisses me off. I could tell the council ...

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound

The fact that there is a social housing angle is a total irrelevance to the developers. They are in it for profit, nothing else. I guess it's a matter of taste but I think it looks awful and if social good had been the main factor you would have had a far nicer development and pub.

To me it just ...

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound

I've lived in sydenham nearly all my life and I think the whole development is really sad. It looks terrible and a pub which was a real feature is now ruined.

Sydenham has few enough decent places as it is and now one has gone and been replaced by featureless prison block flats.

What purelake are ...

Re: Busses

Eagle this is getting more and more bizarre, what has Council Tax collection got to do with this thread?! As it happens most council's have turned to private companies to collect council tax with very poor results in many cases. But you would support this I imagine.

TimL to be honest I don't care ...

Re: Busses

Eagle I'm a relatively low paid job but I have helped to increase revenue in the team I'm in by around 1 million a year. In your desire to fall over yourself to fawn over the rich and privileged it is you who ignores basic facts.

Also how is a demand for a £500 Olympic bonus politically motivated ...

Re: Busses

Also I love the way you go on about gold plated when the reality is that most local government workers earn below the national average wage and the average pension is 4k a year. Vote Tory, you can't help some people.

Re: Busses

Yawn just because you repeat the same thing over and over doesn't make it so. The LGPS is currently self funding, there was no need to change it. There is no requirement to pay more taxes to fund it.

It's bad enough when the rich justify their massive scrounging privileges. They must be laughing ...

Re: Busses

Fair enough so I'll change that to the richest 10,000 could pay off the entire national debt and far more. Indeed the richest 2% of the world own more than 50% of the worlds wealth and 50% of the world own less than 1% of the wealth. Income equality is growing and the rich have become massively ...

Re: Busses

Eagle what are you talking about. You are totally wrong not me. Council tax or any other kind of tax does not fund the LGPS scheme however much you repeat it. You are the one who should apologise!

And now you are spouting more nonsense about highly paid local government workers. In 2007 57% of ...

Re: Busses

Tim that's not true. LGPS pensions are combined if you go to one employer to another.

While the economy is clearly in a bad state but the rich are richer than ever and France has just reduced the pension age. There is the mobey for decent pensions.

Re: Busses

And the difference is this is a scheme that benefits millions of largely low paid workers, and isnt about fat cat bankers, not really the same at all, is it.

The average LGPS pension is 4000 a year!

Re: Busses

Again I would say that if the LGPS scheme needed assistance in the future, then what would be the problem. The rich are wealthier than they ever were, tax them more. But as it happens everything you have said is speculation, the LGPS isn't forecast to need any.

Re: Busses

There are reasons the scheme is a reasonable one but you have not got your facts right. It is not subsidised by council tax or any other tax but you have happily said this without knowing any facts about the scheme.

As it happens though I have no objection to tax helping pension funds. Tax from the ...

Re: Busses

Very good Mike!

Eagle you really shouldn't comment on things you know nothing about. The local government pension scheme has a very healthy surplus, it isn't funded by council tax or any other tax at all. Over long periods of time stock markets have provided very good returns, although that might ...
