Found a picture of the water tower being built, it was on one of my hard drives. I have no idea where I got it from. If you go here and select Crystal Palace 2 from the left hand drop down menu http://www.beckenhamhistory.co.uk/flash ... lery4.html

I have just been given some scans of the Crystal Palace, they were taken by a local photographer called John Mantle. John also made a lot of cine films during the 30s of Beckenham.
You can find them here http://www.beckenhamhistory.co.uk/flashNifties/gallery4.html and select Crystal Palace 2 from ...

Perhaps some people are under the impression that not much was happening in Penge before the enclosure and the arrival of the Crystal Palace. It's interesting to compare these earlier maps of 1745 and 1799:

Fantastic selection of photos. It was good to see The Golden Lion, it reminded me of seeing DJ Robbie Vincent there in the early 70s, about the last time I bought a round.

Welcome back falkor, your input has been missed.

Festival Of Empire and the Paxton Arms Hotel.

The Paxton Arms Hotel played host to the Indian contingent who set up their part in the exhibition. They stayed for a total of 6 weeks in the Hotel. When they left they presented the landlandy with an ivory thermometer as a leaving gift.

Is this a Delamotte?

I have this glass lantern slide and I think it is a Delamotte, I do not know much about Delamotte so I would be grateful for any assistance in identifying it. Also is there any complex copyright on these images?
