Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
It has been said before but nothing seems to be being done about it. There is a guy who lives in the flats at the end of Bishopsthorpe who seems to be in the business of fixing cars. He was ordered to remove the vehicles several years ago. Now he's taken the opportunity to dump at least 10 cars and ...

Re: Covid Vaccination- Sydenham Green Group Practice
My partner got a notification that he had to go to St.Thomas' for his jab. I had mine at Sydenham Green. I called many many times on his behalf. When I finally did get through I was snapped at by the person. I've had dealings with this person before so I am not surprised by the harshness. I was told ...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
I wanted to bump this up.
I have noticed that the man whom, several years ago, was running his automobile repair business on Bishopsthopre road is back. His operation was shut down, but now he has seized on the opportunity of the blocked road to open up shop on the street again. There are no less ...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
The road is now closed. This seems so arbitrary and spontaneous. Perhaps it will lower the amount of traffic on the road that a local counseller lives on?
I have also noticed that the man who was running his car repair business on Bishopsthorpe and Silverdale has begun to leave loads of cars and ...

Hello, I tried to place an order. My addition seems different than the website. I tired to order £60 worth of products. At check out it came up as £165. Then said certain items were out of stock.

Re: What’s going on at x?
Today I noticed that the former Calabash of Culture has had the old shopfront knocked out and modern glass windows put in. Is this not part of the conservation area? It was a nice old shop front and now gone. Anyone know what's going in there?

advice about wasp nest
Hello,
I was cleaning some ivy in my garden and disturbed what I suspect is a wasp nest. Its a hole in the ground where there is a lot of activity. I was bitten - not stung by one and another got my dog. I don't like the idea of having them exterminated. My understanding is that they do pollenate ...

Hello,
I can recommend our dog sitter Lewis. He stays at the house with our dogs when we go away. He is very dedicated, professional and loves dogs. If you like I can give you his number

Re: Should Mayo Road have controlled parking?
I have noticed over the past few months that Enterprise rental has been parking large amounts of their cars along Mayow as well as in the Thorpes. There are Vans, Zip Cars and standard rental cars with with the 'E' emblem on the back of the car lined up along the road. Is this legal?

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
I am curious about all the discussion around positive and negative aspects of Nando’s going in this area. Yet, I see that the space next to Trattoria Raffaele is having a change of use. It appears that some fast food venue is being cobbled together in a space that seems to change its business ...

Re: PFC Penge Food Centre Sydenham Road
I love the place but agree there is always something odd with pricing. Plus the staff seem misrable/angry.
I have also noticed that they will charge for a carrier bag. From what I understand smaller businesses aren't meant to be charging. I asked once just after the policy came in about 5p bags ...

Re: Parking problems
I wanted to bump this up as I don't know if this is relevant here or elsewhere. There is a man who lives on the corner of Bishopsthorpe and Silverdale in the block of flats. For the past year he seems to be running his car repair/tyre or towing business on the actual street. He has a white two truck ...

Re: Parking problems
I wanted to bump this thread back up. I have noticed that the parking issues are increasing in the area - as if that were possible. Today I watched as 4 brand new cars drove out of the Audi place into the Thorpes. They all parked and left. This is not new. Enterprise car rental also leaves several ...

We went last week. Meh!
It will be interesting to see how it does when it is has been up and running for a while. Strange 'decour' choices. Particularly the odd sideboard when you walk in with 'nick-nacks' on it. The built in seating is interesting but can't see it ageing well. Also WHAT was the ...

Sydenham Green Group Practice
Hello,
Has anyone here had trouble getting in to see a Dr or Nurse Practitioner at Sydenham Green? It use to be such a great practice but in the past 3 years it seems practically impossible to get in to see anyone. I have 4 prescriptions that need to be reviewed and put on repeat. I gave up trying ...

Re: Istanbul 'supermarket'
I'm laughing as I write this (possibly crying a bit too). I decided to go to Bob's Wines tonight on my way home. I figured after the events as Istanbul I could redress the balance by giving them my business - as it should have been in the first place. I'm happy to give them my money as I think they ...
