Re: Golden Lion pub

Hi Richard - I called in to the Golden Lion yesterday with two friends for the first time since the pub reopened. Very impressed with the new decor so we decided to stop and have lunch. We were the only three customers in the place at 12.30 and we happily ordered the Lamb Stew which was one of the ...

Meeting re Kirkdale issues?

Could someone please tell me if there is a meeting this evening at Alhambra? I think I saw a notice in a shop a while ago saying that Councillor Upex et al would be attending a meeting to discuss what can be done with Kirkdale ... but haven't seen anything about it on this forum. I could, of course ...

Sydenham Police Station - Public Consultation

I received a leaflet during the week announcing that ASRA Housing Group are preparing a planning application for a new residential development at the site of Sydenham Police Station. They are holding an exhibition in the former police station this Tuesday 12th May, between 3.00 - 8.00pm, where you ...

I'm hoping to sell my house soon - could anyone suggest a local solicitor / conveyancer please?

Thanks

Deadline approaching in battle to save The Windmill

Anyone else receive a letter from Sainsbury's this morning to inform residents of Kirkdale of their plans to open a new convenience shop? They say that current planning law does not require planning permission to change the use of the premises but they have submitted the necessary planning ...

Re: Hairdressers- good highlights and cut

Hi Roisin - have just seen your email and probably too late with this info. I alway use MasterCutters in Sydenham Road, opposite side to the Dolphin pub and down a bit. I always ask for Scott or his wife and have never been disappointed and they have their own colour specialist.

Good luck

Re: Portas Pilot SEE3 ideas

As I was reading through this thread I was wondering, who ARE these people commenting on art4's posts in such an aggresive manner - who elected them to run this thread? I was therefore very pleased to see the comments from Eagle and Annie - forums are here to enable one to express opinions and there ...

Re: Miriam Lodge Planning Application

I live in Cheseman Street - opposite Sydenham police station and Miriam Lodge and I have not received any notice about this expansion. I would be interested in attending a meeting regarding this matter. Would be grateful if you would post details on this forum.

Many thanks

Re: ,street lighting

Unbelievably, ten minutes after I wrote about the lamposts a guy from Skanska knocked on my door to say that they will be coming tomorrow to complete the job! He informed me that all three new lamps should be installed and working tomorrow and the old ones taken away....

Re: ,street lighting

Just to add to my previous comments, two weeks ago, a new lamp was erected about 50 yards from the old one outside my house (which I was very pleased about). The other two original lamps at either end of the road are still there with no replacements and the three old lamps are still operating - the ...

Re: ,street lighting

I just received the same letter from Skanska as you Annie, a couple of weeks ago. They have actually repositioned the new lamp about 10' along from the original one. It is in on the pavement rather than on the kerb and the old one to be removed some time in the future.

Re: Sydenham School major demolition and reconstruction

Thank you rhsdunlop - I am over it now - it was just a shock to see that word and my instant reaction. I know now that no harm was meant and we can all carry on regardless!

Back to the discussion in hand .... onwards and upwards..... :P

Re: Sydenham School major demolition and reconstruction

Yes I am very happy with the new plans Annie, purely from a selfish point of view. I live opposite this ugly concrete building, have to look at it every day and it blocks my light. I know it won't suit everyone but I think most neighbours, pupils and staff will all benefit in many different ways ...

Re: Sydenham School major demolition and reconstruction

It didn't annoy me at all Annie - quite the opposite! I just felt like an intruder on the thread - my comments ignored while you had a three way conversation ... anyway, it's all good now and hope you will carry on reminiscing.

Re: Sydenham School major demolition and reconstruction

[quote="Robin Orton"]Apologies for raising such a boring topic in the first place, Annie. As I said, I live very close to the school, and I fear the changes will cause me some significant and permanent loss of amenity. But clearly I am alone, at any rate amongst posters on this forum.[/quoteRobin ...
