Re: Rebuild the Greyhound Pub Campaign #rebuildthegreyhound
I don't see a problem with someone proposing as an alternative that the Greyhound should be knocked down; do we live in a fascist society where someone dares to speak differently is shot down?. The pub is of no specific architectural value other than its an oldish building; there are far greater ...

Re: That's Amore
Thats a real blow. I wonder if they just retired or just gave up? IT was an excellent restaurant and although Trat Raff is good its the other end of the high street, and this end of Sydenham is much nearer Forest Hill anyway. Real shame though.

Thats Amore
Does anyone else know what is happening with Thats Amore! on Kirkdale? They normally shut for the summer hols but normally they are open by now. There are still signs on the windows saying they are shut for the holidays which have been there since early August. Any ideas?

I think its located in the new housing association development just off Kirkdale, between Peak Hill and Sydenham Park.

Re: Allotments
I agree, this seems totally unfair. If someone has built up a good few years of well kept allotments why should they be made ot give it up? I know 3 people in my road who have both gardens and allotments and they tend their allotments well...they need it because their own gardens, although not small ...

Re: Fig & Pistachio??
Walked past this today and it says it will be open on Tuesday. Looks promising...but why a French bakery and now deli in Kirkdale? I quite like the bakery but wish it did more artisan breads and a wider range and their cakes are all very similar on a theme.

Re: The Windmill has closed down
Well done Sydenham Society. SO what are you now proposing to do with the site as i am sure you have a plan to get the site open again? This stretch of the road is run down anyway, its all we need is a large frontage contributing to that.

Re: fatal stabbing in Wells Park Road.
Its a very naive point of view that you solely assume that the police are responsible for everything! Nothing about society in general, poverty, drugs, etc? What do you propose, we live in a police state where everything is controlled by them? What difference does a police station in the vicinity ...

Re: The Mean Streets of Sydenham
i dont think Sydenham is worse than alot of places but i don't think its amongst the best, but where is? I have lived here for 10 years, and i have been burgled once, in a spate which affected our street about 6 years ago but nothing as far as i know has happened since then; and mugged once but that ...
Re: Burgled
I was burgled about 6 years ago, and it was part of a spate which over a few weeks before Christmas was carried out about about 5 houses down the road. About a week or so after i was burgled, a further attempt was made on the property, as like someone above has mentioned, they think you have ...

Re: sydenham girls school
Definetly inform the school. The headmistress is very interested to know if there are problems and has been known to be very proactive about it. But then saying that, when i was growing up in Canterbury, as a school kid waiting for the bus, i am not sure that we acted any differently. The only thing ...

There was a post earlier about 'where have all the posters gone'...well this forum used to be so good, informative and with decent written pieces of news...well someone only has to read Rod and Nigel to get an idea why this forum has gone downhill

Thanks Dan, an excellent response, and i for one fully appreciate your support of the arts in the local borough. I am pleased also that you replied as a company, and not as a pseudenym as other estates agents do on this forum.

Bell ringing on Friday
There is a mass bell ringing proposed around the country at 8.12am this Friday. Does anyone know if anyone or if any churches are taking part in Sydenham?
